The Pirate Ninjas meet the Royal Navy and come out worse for wear.

The take-no-prisoners style of driving backfires.

A whole raft of CRX showed up. Unfortunately they were driven quite aggressively at the start of the race, which meant body damage. There isn't a lot of body on a CRX that you can damage before you damage the mechanicals.

Look fast, because the Lincoln didn't spend a lot of time here.

The Team Fritos Lincoln had tested out well on the street with a month of driving to see what sort of problems might crop up. Under the stress of racing, the brakes, tires, and fuel system all experienced a variety of failures. We didn't give up hope though, and she kept going back out over and over. Just not often enough.

Of course the fancy schmancy electric trunk release decides to pack up in a moment of dire need, and sterner measures were required to get access to the boot(y).

Artsy shot of the pits at night, with both Bandito cars in for a driver change. Notice tow truck hauling some other unfortunate back to their spot in the pits.

Hecklers......uhhhhhh, spectators. Just like any race crowd, they lived for carnage, even if their own team's.

High on exhaust fumes and rubber dust, some select people were allowed to hurl lemons at the racing cars (it ain't the 24 Hours of LeMons for nothing!). They weren't being nice either, one hit the Alfa so hard it made a small crack in the windshield! I'm surprised some teams didn't claim a lemon hitting their driver in the head, to explain suspect driving maneuvers.

Late on Saturday night, the Alfa got a triple shunt from 3 idiots that were having their own race and didn't realize the yellow flag had been thrown. Obviously they were racing noobs or they would have been paying attention to little things like 2 big yellow flags waving and yellow lights flashing for over half a lap before they plowed into the Alfa. After some prolonged pounding to keep the tire from rubbing the fender, we were back in action.

Heading out in our hot-rod Lincoln to see what damage we can do.

But others had a worse. Who needs a frame machine? Chains, tow straps, giant hammers, team members straining...

At 10pm the cars were pitted and the racing stopped. Our cars intact and our bodies mostly so, team Fritos Banditos slunk away to some hot food and warm beds on Saturday night.
